Hi everyone,
I want to start a discussion about a common issue many companies face today: employees bypassing monitoring software.
Many organizations use employee monitoring tools to track productivity, screen activity, and working hours. These tools help managers understand how work is being done, especially in remote or hybrid teams.
But sometimes employees try to bypass or trick monitoring software. For example, some people keep the mouse moving, use auto click tools, or leave applications open just to look active. Because of this, the data shown in monitoring tools may not always reflect real productivity.
This creates problems for managers because they cannot clearly understand who is actually working and who is just appearing active.
Discussion questions:
• Why do employees try to bypass monitoring software?
• What are the common tricks used to fool monitoring tools?
• How can companies detect or prevent this problem?
• What features should a good monitoring tool have to stop this?
Some modern productivity tools like WorkDesQ try to solve this problem by focusing on real work insights instead of only tracking mouse or keyboard activity.
I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic.
