Github Education for teachers in public schools in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina

Hi everyone,

I would like to know what the possibilities are for teachers in public schools in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to access GitHub Education.
The government gives us an email address with the domain "abc.gob.ar", meaning we don't have ".edu.ar" domains, and consequently, our requests are rejected.
I submitted documentation proving my experience as a teacher in public educational institutions, but I haven't been able to access it either.
Does anyone know how I can do this? It would really be very helpful, and unfortunately, I don't have access to .edu.ar email addresses.

For GitHub Education for Teachers, GitHub usually requires a verifiable school-issued email address along with proof that you are currently employed as an educator. This email is typically used to automatically verify your affiliation with the institution. ([GitHub Docs]1)

However, the domain does not necessarily have to be .edu. What matters is that it’s an official institutional email issued by your school or government education system. In many countries, public-school systems use government domains (like abc.gob.ar), which should still qualify if GitHub can verify the institution.

Since your application was rejected even after submitting documents, here are a few things you can try:

1. Apply again using the “Teacher / Faculty” option, not the student option. Teachers are verified separately from students. ([GitHub Docs]2)

2. Upload stronger verification documents, such as:

   • Teacher ID card
   • Employment verification letter from the school or education department
   • Official document showing your name, school, and current position

3. Contact GitHub Education Support directly and explain that your government education system uses abc.gob.ar instead of .edu.ar. Include your documents and the explanation that it is the official domain for public schools in Buenos Aires.

Many educators outside the U.S. face this issue, and manual verification by GitHub support is usually the best path when the domain isn’t recognized automatically.
