the dependency on gpac is going to make it hard for ubuntu users to build ccextractor anymore. It seems one might be able to get it from gpac.io but for my test system running resolute.

I reproduced this on Ubuntu 25.10 (Questing Quokka) and 26.04 pre-release (Resolute Raccoon, ubuntu:devel) in clean linux/amd64 Docker containers. (I also hit this issue while working on the Snap packaging in #1998)

libgpac-dev is present in Ubuntu 24.04 Noble's universe repo but was dropped from 24.10 (Oracular) onward — it's absent from all repos on both 25.10 and 26.04, not an enablement issue.

The reason cmake hard-fails rather than degrading gracefully is pkg_check_modules(GPAC REQUIRED gpac) in src/lib_ccx/CMakeLists.txt — unlike FFmpeg and OCR which are behind option() flags, GPAC has no guard, so the build aborts immediately.

Verified workaround — build GPAC v2.4.0 from source then build CCExtractor (tested in a clean Ubuntu 26.04 pre-release Docker container):

./ccextractor --version  # confirmed working

Alternatively, if you'd rather skip the source build entirely, Snap support was introduced in #1998. The Snap package bundles GPAC internally — no system-level install required. → Get the Snap build
