Description
When launching Rustcast on macOS, the application is blocked by Gatekeeper. While macOS normally offers a “Open Anyway” option, this workaround is not available on MDM-managed devices (e.g. school or corporate Macs).
As a result, Rustcast cannot be used at all in managed environments, even when users explicitly trust the application.
Steps to Reproduce
- Attempt to launch the application.
- Gatekeeper blocks the app with a warning that it cannot be verified. On an MDM-controlled device, the “Open Anyway” / “Allow Anyway” option is unavailable or disabled by policy.
Impact
This issue prevents the use of Rustcast in managed macOS environments, which is a common setup in:
- Educational institutions
- Corporate IT environments
- Organizations with security compliance requirements
Environment
- macOS 26.2
- Device managed via MDM
Suggested Fix
To resolve this issue, one of the following would be highly appreciated:
- Proper macOS code signing with an Apple Developer ID
- Notarization of the application by Apple
