API documentation

Would it be possible to have API documentation? In particular, I'm wondering how to depict MOL files which someone in a pub told me was possible.

Not sure if @baoilleach meant this, but I think I saw some instructions on the REST API part, allowing REST calls that return the SVG directly, and how to indicate what options are to be used for the visualisation. I think I did see docs on this, but could not find it last night.
