Quicktest Toolbar removed in version 6.5.x: Adapt or use the legacy companion add-on

In version 6.5.3, the button in the email sending window has disappeared.

That is the legacy quicktext toolbar. It is no longer part of the main add-on. The suggested approach is to use:

• shortcuts
• the context menu
• the action button (the quicktext button in the top toolbar)

The legacy quicktext toolbar will be difficult if not impossible to implement with pure WebExtension APIs. It was removed, so that Quicktext can soon become a pure WebExtension without the need to be updated every 4 weeks and be available on Thunderbird's Release channel.

If you really need the toolbar, you need to install the Legacy Companion Add-on. It will officially not be supported by me on Thunderbird's Release channel, so you will have to keep using ESR in that case. The current Quicktext Legacy Companion Add-on does run on Thunderbird Release, but that will not be the case after summer, when we push all of this officially out the door.

What I meant was that the feature will disappear in the summer.

So you can still use the “quicktext_legacy_companion_1_0_3.xpi” version now, but from summer onwards...

You will be able to use it on Thunderbird ESR only, not on Thunderbird Release, because I do not have the time to provide the required updates every 4 weeks.

So you have the choice:

• do not use the toolbar and be able to use Quicktext on Thunderbird Release once the migration process is finished (this summer)
• use the toolbar, but be forced to stay on Thunderbird ESR

The current "official" Quicktext version is v6.4 and it is not published for Thunderbird's Release channel, only for Thunderbird ESR - because of these legacy components and because I do not have the time for the updates.

Edit: To clarify: All XPI files downloaded from recent GitHub releases work on Thunderbird Release, because they are Beta versions for testing and developing.

In the past we only had the ESR channel (one big yearly update, 115.x, 128x, 140.x, 153.x, ...), since about a year we also have the monthly release channel (feature updates every 4 weeks, 140.x, 141.x, 142.x, ...).

Bonjour et merci pour le JOB,

J'utilise Thunderbird 140.8.1esr (64 bits). Je viens d'installer Quicktext Legacy Companion Add-on, et la toolbar est à nouveau présente, merci.
Part contre, il n'est plus possible d'élargir le bloc côté gauche, du coup cela rend difficile la lecture des intitulés de modèles.
Pensez-vous que cela puisse être corrigé ?
