Browser Version:
138.0.3351.55
Operating System:
Windows 11 Enterprise, 24H2, 26100.4349
How to reproduce the issue:
- Go to https://nodejs.org/en/download
- Ensure the settings are "Get Node.js [v22.17.0 (LTS)] for [Windows] using [Docker] with [npm]
- Expand the "Docker" option to see other options
Expected: nvm and fnm are enabled, or some explanation is provided as to why they're disabled
Actual: nvm, fnm, and several other options are greyed out.
- nvm: Disabled
- fnm: Disabled
- Docker: Enabled
- Brew: Disabled (expected, macOS only)
- Devbox: Disabled (expected, Linux only)
- Chocolatey: Enabled
- n: Disabled (expected, macOS and Linux only)
- Volta: Enabled
Looking at other issues like Schniz/fnm#1357 and #7400 I couldn't find any "retraction" of fnm and I'm too lazy to dig through the source code to see why it would be greyed out. My Windows-based team uses fnm and I want to confirm I can continue recommending it. I'm sure nvm users have the same question :)
