academic affiliation is rejected #184010

Assuming you changed your billing info correctly, it’s likely due to stale data. GitHub's system often gets stuck on old info, so after you update your billing name, I'd recommend changing something else (like your public profile name) and then logging out and back in to entirely to refresh it. If this didn't work, please contact support and ask for a manual review. Hope this helps |

Same problem here. The name is exactly the same in the billing profile. I'm at my fourth rejection. Did you have any luck with logout/login as suggested? |

Unfortunately, I did not. Same rejection again.
Also, the support link won't allow any actual submissions for the Educational help.

Actually I found a way to submit a support ticket within Education. I kept selecting the different topic options until one would let me create a ticket. I told them the issue and they fixed it almost immediately.

Hello, If your GitHub Student Developer Pack application was rejected due to academic affiliation verification, you can resolve it by updating your billing details and then reapplying. Please follow these steps:
You will see two blue links:
Note:
After completing these steps, the application is usually verified and approved within about 30 minutes. If you still face any issues, please let me know. Thank you. |

Hi everyone,
My academic affiliation has been repeatedly rejected, and I'm receiving the following message. However, I've done what the instructions ask. Specifically, my name is EXACTLY the same on my document and the payment method. I've seen similar posts but none of the suggested help has worked. Can you please help or give me instructions for contacting a person?
Thanks.
Unfortunately, we were unable to verify your academic affiliation based on the information you submitted on Jan 8, 2026 for @ekkelley.Please complete your GitHub billing information with your full name exactly as it appears in your academic affiliation document. You do not have to add a payment method. You may need to log out and log back in to GitHub before reapplying. If you have only a single legal name, enter it in both the first and last name fields.
